Who are we?

At Northern Latitudes, we are a team of experienced travelers who love to help people. The members of our team have been travelling around the world for more than ten years, or even twenty for the most experienced. We hope to put this knowledge and experience to use by helping people to make their own journeys more enjoyable. All of that in articles that we try to make fun and enjoyable to read.

Our Logo

As you navigate through our website, you may notice our logo representing a bird flying. We took the inspiration for this logo from a real bird called the Arctic tern or Sterna paradisaea in scientific nomenclature. What makes this bird special is his migration. Indeed, the Arctic terns have a migration that can make dozens of thousands of kilometers round-trips, the longest known migration in the animal kingdom. More impressive, these birds are constantly flying, even at night. We thought that this would perfectly illustrate the mindset of travelers who frequently travel long distances to discover the world.

How do we work?

You may legitimately wonder how we work and if you can trust us, we would do the same. Our working process is relatively simple. We usually make a list of attractions that members of our team have tried. Since we might miss some activities, we also like to research on the web other activities. Once this list is done, we do supplemental research about these activities. These researches include finding the prices, accessibility and people’s review on the web. We then proceed to decide which activities we keep, remove or add. Finally, we write down the article and insert it on our website where we can add the final design.

Since the world is constantly changing, so are the different activities around the world. That is why we try to frequently update the information on our pages. To know when a page was updated for the last time, you can check the band at the top of the page. The date of the last update is generally stated there – that information may be missing on some page.

Northern Latitudes is an ongoing project. We frequently publish new content and update our older content for the best quality and most up to date information. Another good example of that constant progress is the design of our pages. As you make your way across all the articles of the website, you might notice that page designs change. That is simply the result of evolving choices in terms of design.

Up to date

We strive to make up to date articles. That is why we try to update them at least once a year, and always write the last update on the articles.

No AI Used

At a time where AI has become so common we decided to not use it to make our articles. Although we recognize the usefulness of Artificial intelligence our website is made by humans.

No Membership

We do not ask for any money from you. The content we make is totally free of access for everyone. And although you may see some advertisements on our pages, we avoid making it overwhelming.

How can you help?

If you like our work and would like to help us, you can! A great way to support us is by joining our facebook group, or by sharing the link of our website with people or on your own blog. We are really grateful for anything you can do to support us.

Other Frequently Asked Questions:

Is Northern Latitudes selling anything? We are not directly selling any products. We may advertise or offer links to places where you can buy tickets for activities, but those are made through trusted affiliates.

Who is writing articles? Our team members are writing all the articles found on the website. You may notice that in comparison with other sites, our articles do not feature the name of the author(s) . The main reason behind this is the website’s team desire to remain anonymous. Yet, we do our best to make quality content that people will be confident in trusting.

What is the frequency of release for articles? There is no official frequency at which we write and release our articles and blog posts. Northern Latitudes is not the primary activity of the team’s members, and most of us work on articles when time allows us to do so. Since writing an article is a long process, it may sometimes take weeks or more to release one article.

What are the names under the website’s pictures? Those are the names of the photographs. We do not always have good pictures available at hand, nor can we move to places just for pictures, that is why we take pictures with a license that we can use on the website. This does not affect the quality of what is written and provides you with a good picture for the website’s visitors.

Why does nothing happen when I click on the language change button? This may be the result of either a bug, or a lack of translation for the page you want to visit. Our system does not feature an automatic translation system, meaning that we need to translate each page individually. Sometimes, we may release a page in English without having the time to translate it.

Is there only content about North America? Currently, the website features mostly articles about North American cities in the United States and Canada. One blog article and one website article are focused on France in Europe. Nonetheless, we consider expanding our content to more international destinations in the future.
