Our Team
Northern Latitudes is redacted by an unchanging team of two handling multiple roles including photographers, writers as well as designer and webmasters.The team also receive additional help on an occasional basis. We redact our articles to help other travelers in planning their own trip to the American west. Our redactors are mostly volunteers working on a part time basis on the articles of the website.
Affiliated Marketing & Ads
Northern Latitudes has the opportunity to work with well established companies of the traveling business. Some of the links we provide on the website are affiliated, meaning that our team gets a commission on sales made via our link. Nonetheless, we make it our goal to provide people with the information that will be the most advantageous for them. We never choose the content of our articles based on our affiliated links, and we always strive to offer the cheapest experiences even if this means that we will not get any commission on it. In all matters, we work to put our readers first.
Our website may contain ads as well. We generally have no control over the content of those ads.
Our Editorial Standards
Writing Process - We generally begin our writing process by selecting a specific topic or destination we would like to expand on. Some of our articles are also based on questions that we personally had, or that travelers ask on the web. For instance; How to go from point A to point B? Or, what places should I visit there?
Research - Once the topic or destination is selected, we first draw on our personal experiences to write about the chosen theme. We have visited most of the places we write about and experienced many of the activities featured in our articles. Those experiences allow us to write about the topics from the viewpoints of visitors.
Additional research is then made on the web to find more details about the history, prices or technical aspects of a destination or attractions. This process is usually made using the official website of the destinations/activities/agencies. In some cases where information may be scarce, we may supplement those research with additional feedback from other travelers.
Creating the Website Page - Once the article is written and all information is gathered, we add everything to the website, create a design for the page, and use pictures to illustrate.
Updating Policy
We understand that the field of travel is constantly moving and that information can quickly become obsolete. That’s why we do our best to frequently update our articles. We have no designated frequency at which we update the website, but articles are usually updated once a year.
